Course image Chemistry 20 - Summer School 2023
Price 2022-2023

Description: (5 credits)

Chemistry 20 is an introductory course with a focus on the study of chemical bonding, solutions, acids and bases, gaseous systems, and quantitative relationships in chemical reactions.

Prerequisite:

  • Science 10
Course image Physics 30 (2022-23)
Price 2022-2023

Description:

When does a model or a theory need to change? Physics 30 students consider historical experiments and explore why the model of the atom has changed as a result of experiments and observations of natural phenomena. Students apply a quantitative approach to describe conservation of momentum in an isolated system, and they investigate applications and implications of electric and magnetic forces and fields.

Prerequisite:

  • Physics 20

Price 2022-2023

Description: (5 credits)

The physics 20 course investigates the motion of objects and explains why they move. Physics 20 requires a strong math background as concepts are developed with corresponding equations that are used to solve problems.

Prerequisite:

  • Science 10
Course image Math 31 (2022-23)
Price 2022-2023

Description:

Mathematics 31 emphasizes the theoretical and practical development of topics in the algebra of functions, trigonometry, differential calculus and integral calculus up to a standard acceptable for entry into all first-year programs in mathematics, science, engineering and business.

Pre or corequisite:

  • Math 30-1

Course Overview

Love math? Then this course is for you! In this pre-calculus course, you’ll gain the mathematical knowledge and critical thinking skills appropriate for entry into post-secondary programs* that are math-intensive and require the study of calculus. Topics of study include trigonometry, transformations, logarithms, function operations, permutations, combinations, and binomial theorem.

Note: If you have a particular post-secondary program in mind, you should consult your school counsellor and the post-secondary institution to ensure that this course fulfills requirements.

Materials

*The Pre-Calculus 12 textbook is required; the key is recommended but optional.
